We foster global and city-specific cross-disciplinary problem-solving, co-creation and collaboration.
What is Conscious Design?Conscious Design is an enactive, equitable, empathic process of creating environments that are aware of and responsive to the needs and aspirations of its participants. It entails places, spaces and objects that have an awareness of, and responsibility towards people. Conscious Design augments the accountability and transparency of traditional Design Thinking by focusing on an equitable articulation of collective intent as a carefully calibrated person-space dialogue. A network of such a dialogue between people, communities, and their experience in spaces then acts as a framework as well as the feedback system in space-making.
Our vision is to connect people, phenomena, and place by reconceptualizing design thinking and revitalising citymaking and push for a conscious model. Conscious design leads this foresight by shaping enactive awareness, equitable intent, and empathic response in the built environment. Our innovation in Conscious Design is geared to implement a practical decentralisation in urban and spatial decision making by focusing on connecting people to co-create and collaborate guided by conscious design principles of enactivism, equity, and empathy. We strive to create environments which maximize individual and community potential to promote wellbeing, as well as socio-ecological resilience while enriching experience in everyday life. We believe in disseminating principles as solution frameworks rather than in giving one-size-fits-all solutions. Since Conscious Design is a continually metamorphosing process, the principles approach better facilitates and encourages cross-chapter problem-solving, co-creation, collaboration, and communication.
