This Focus Area looks at how subliminal or ‘unconscious’ responses direct our behavior more than most realize. It reviews the impact of architecture and the built environment on the human brain and body using biometric tools to reveal our ‘unconscious’ experience around buildings. Eye tracking, facial expression analysis, galvanic skin response (GSR) are some of the metrics discussed here to provide real data on the impact of architecture on us. The Focus Area works to bridge the arts + sciences.
