Membership Agreement

1. Community Guidelines

1.1. Fostering Respect

2.1.1. Our community thrives when all members show respect to one another. This agreement underscores the fundamental principle that every member deserves to be treated with respect regardless of their background, identity, or perspective. 

1.1.2. By agreeing to this document, you commit to treating fellow community members with dignity and courtesy. Respect extends to differences of opinion and embraces constructive dialogue even at times of crisis or conflict.

1.2. Ensuring Inclusivity

1.2.1. Inclusivity is at the core of our community values. We believe in the strength of diverse perspectives and backgrounds coming together to enrich our discussions and interactions.

1.2.2. This agreement highlights the importance of creating an environment where every member feels welcomed and valued. We encourage you to actively participate, contribute your unique insights, and engage in conversations that promote inclusivity.

1.3. Sharing Responsibility

2.3.1. Our community is built on the idea that every member shares responsibility in helping it thrive. By signing this agreement, you acknowledge your role in preserving the respectful and inclusive culture we aim to foster.

1.3.2. By agreeing to this document, you commit to sharing the responsibility for creating an environment where all CCD members feel empowered to express themselves, learn from one another, collaborate effectively, and contribute to the growing body of work. Thus, all members should be mindful of the impact we have in dialogue building, knowledge sharing, and personal and collective flourishment.

1.4. Privacy and Confidentiality 

1.4.1. We want to create a safe and trusted collaborative environment for everyone. Therefore, we place high importance on respecting the privacy and confidentiality of all community members. Please refrain from sharing personal information or any confidential data without prior consent of the CCD members and fellows.

1.5. Intellectual Property, Copyright

1.5.1. We respect intellectual property rights. When sharing content, kindly ensure that you have the right to do so. Properly attribute sources and adhere to any specific content-sharing guidelines to promote a fair and creative environment. 

1.5.2. Individual, Group, and/or Community involvement in work published on the CCD website or presented at CCD or City Chapter events must always be acknowledged when being referenced.

1.5.3. No individual shall have exclusive ownership of any work done as part of CCD or City Chapter activity. 

1.5.4. Any work done as a Project, as detailed in its related Project File is for use on the CCD website, CCD Events, City Chapter Events, CCD Social Posts or City Chapter Social Posts only.

1.5.5. Permission from the CCD Content Team must be received to replicate work done as a Project outside of the CCD website, CCD Events, City Chapter Events, CCD Social Posts or City Chapter Social Posts.

1.5.6. No Member or Fellow can use The CCD or a City Chapter as a personal brand, property or business from which he or she can exclusively benefit, leaving out the rest of the community. 

1.5.7. Unauthorized use or distribution of copyrighted material is prohibited.

1.6. Quality Assurance and Liability

1.6.2. Members assume full liability for any content that they publish through the CCD website or on its social channels. This means that due diligence must be carried out by the Member when submitting content for publication that they are not sharing misleading or harmful content, information or images. 

1.6.3. Members assume full liability for any damages occurring from their writing, sharing and submitting for publication misleading or harmful content, information or images. 

2. Communication and Interaction

2.1. Communication Effectiveness 

2.1.1. Effective and respectful communication is a cornerstone of our community. To ensure that all members can engage meaningfully and consciously we encourage clear and effective communication using a language that is both articulate and considerate to foster an atmosphere of positive and constructive dialogue.

2.1.2. We also ask that you be mindful of your tone and language, refraining from using aggressive or offensive expressions that may harm the atmosphere of constructive dialogue.

2.1.3. We discourage spamming, trolling, rude language, or disruptive behavior.

3. Publishing

3.1. Project Files

3.1.1. Members must first have a Project File approved before begging work on any content. A Project File is submitted for approval through the Dashboard.

3.1.2. The content created must faithfully reflect the details provided in the approved Project File.

4. Membership Terms

4.1. Membership Eligibility

4.1.1. Anyone interested in the CCD’s work and philosophy can apply for a CCD membership. It’s open to people from diverse professional, cultural and geographical backgrounds.

4.1.2. Members have no obligation to contribute to the CCD beyond the membership fee. The rest is optional. This means CCD members do not need to create content of any kind and do not need to engage in CCD projects unless they want to.

4.1.3. Members can apply to become a Fellow once they are enrolled.

4.2 Amendments to this Agreement

4.2.1 The CCD may from time to time make amendments to this agreement as it works to develop a healthy and thriving Conscious Design Network and Conscious Cities Movement. All Members will be notified of any amendment, and all amendments will be recorded in a Change Log within the agreement. 

4.3 Membership Termination

4.3.1. A Member can voluntarily cancel their Membership on Patreon.

4.3.2. The CCD holds the right to terminate membership if a member is deemed to be acting in violation of the terms and values outlined in the Membership Agreement. In such a case, there will be no refund of the Membership Fee.

4.4 Financial Hosting

The CCD is not a corporate or financial entity. Financial activities related to The CCD are treated as a not-for-profit project processed by a hosting entity. The current host is Studio Hume.
