Carrie Makarewicz, PhD is an associate professor in Urban and Regional Planning at CU Denver. She researches the implications for individuals and families from the interactions among public sector investments, market development, and policies for housing, transportation, and schools. Her main focuses include public transportation and active transportation facilities, affordable housing, public schools, community development, and post-disaster housing recovery. She has worked as a change management consultant, city planner, and policy analyst. She has a BBA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, a Masters in Urban Planning and Public Affairs from the University of Illinois-Chicago, and a Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley.
