Ryan Jacobsen

Associate Urban Designer at NYC Department of City Planning

Ryan Jacobson is an Urban Designer with the NYC Department of City Planning’s Climate Resiliency Team. He has helped release reports that have covered retrofitting buildings in flood zones, preserving and strengthening retail corridors in the floodplain and demonstrating how to best design industrial sites along the waterfront. Prior to joining DCP, Ryan worked as an urban designer and landscape architect for four years in the private sector and spent a portion of that time as an intern with the United Nations (UN-Habitat). Ryan received his Masters in Urban Design from Columbia University and his Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture Purdue University. He was a recipient of the Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Memorial Prize in 2013 at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation for best design project in his final semester, was an Olmsted Scholar nominee, and received an ASLA Honor Award while a Senior at Purdue University
