Office for the New Earth (ONE) is a Dutch NGO, that designs and builds therapeutic Healing Spaces for children in need. These are architectural interventions effectively counterbalancing systemically deprived circumstances, such as the context of refugee camps or upgrading Child-friendly spaces in existing community centers. The function of these spaces can be very diverse, ranging from play to education, or creative workshops.

Through a methodological framework of environmental psychology and community involvement, ONE aims to create environments that nurture the senses and calm the nervous system. This allows the children to relax in their trauma-driven freeze-fight-flight responses and start playing again. Finally, through gained self-awareness, social play, and exploration, Healing Spaces contribute directly to their holistic development, making them more resilient in this turbulent phase of their lives.
