Ebru Baykal Uluoz, as a practicing architect, PhD candidate, and Health & Well-being Design strategist is deeply interested in improving health (physical, mental, and social) by changing our approach to cities, communities, and places. She advocates that we can do more to improve lives, foster healthy outcomes, and positively impact lifestyles in everyday spaces through spatial and operational strategies. Her dedication to designing spaces that promote health, and well-being inspires her user-centered, research-based design philosophy.

Her doctoral research explores how the built environments, especially workplaces affect our health and well-being and how health creation-Salutogenesis- could be obtained through design. Her research includes the investigation of Evidence-Based Design (EBD) of healthcare facilities and existing evaluation tools, structuring and implementing Post Occupancy Evaluations (POE) to measure workplace user experience, and data analysis. The impact of the research is believed to be powerful and relevant now more than ever when the business implications of supporting health and wellness are being laid bare around the world, especially after the pandemic.

Her goals as a Fellow of The Centre for Conscious Design’s Barcelona Chapter are to interact with the city’s varied populations, work with regional partners, and push for laws that support healthy and sustainable built environments.  Ebru aims for the Barcelona Chapter to function as a platform for information exchange, innovation, and effective urban design practices.
