Through the practice of Public Interest Design, Design Corps’ utilizes design and planning as a tool for empowerment for traditionally underserved communities, working directly with Indigenous Architects, Designers, Planners, and Engineers.
Our Indigenous Public Interest Design Institute was co-imagined and co-created among a planning committee of North American Indigenous practitioners.
Expanding upon the SEED methodology, the Planning Committee re-imagined SEED (social, economic, environmental design) to address Indigenous issues within the built environment and center Indigenous expertise, leadership, worldviews, and practices within the field, birthing the I-SEED mission and principles.
The SEED Network is a network of SEED accredited professionals & firm accredited projects, owned by Design Corps℠.
What started out with just 7 committee members, has expanded into having 10+ Indigenous nations & communities represented within both the committee & institute speakers from around the world also representing over 32 design/architecture universities, firms & organizations globally. Institute Participants/Attendees have over 37 tribal & native affiliations from the U.S. & beyond, representing 80+ design/architecture universities, firms & organizations internationally.
