Stephen Parker is a licensed architect & dedicated behavioral health planner in Washington, DC, designing projects of purpose across Stantec’s global footprint. A proponent of “architect as advocate” for colleague, client, and community alike, he believes strongly in leadership through service. Driving purpose across Stantec’s Mental+Behavioral Health Design Practice, Parker plans and designs behavioral health projects from the Arctic to Australasia. From autism clinics to addiction treatment facilities and mental health hospitals of all scales, Stephen works alongside communities contending with crisis. He served as co-convener of the AIA Strategic Council’s Mental Health + Architecture Incubator during the pandemic & helped author the VA’s new Inpatient Mental Health Design Guide. A member of national and international professional associations in leadership roles across design, advocacy and healthcare, Stephen strives to cross disciplines to achieve meaningful change, blending mental wellbeing, neurodiversity and design.
