Author of the national best-selling book 24/6: The Power of Unplugging One Day A Week

Tiffany Shlain is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker, founder of the Webby Awards, and author of the national best-selling book 24/6: The Power of Unplugging One Day A Week. The book, which recently won the Marshall McLuhan Outstanding Book Award, explores what technology amplifies and what it amputates, all told through the lens of her family’s decade-long practice of going off screens for a full day weekly for what they call their Tech Shabbat. The Museum of Modern Art in New York premiered her one woman “Spoken Cinema” performance Dear Human in February 2020. She lectures and performs worldwide on the relationship between technology and humanity . . . and since Covid, on Zoom. The Albert Einstein Foundation selected Tiffany for their book and initiative Genius 100 honoring people who are carrying on Einstein’s legacy. During quarantine, Tiffany has been writing weekly newsletters, participating in online talks and is hosting a #ZoomChallahBake on Fridays with special guests and people from all over the world. University of Michigan

Dr. Upali Nanda is Principal and Director of Research for HKS, a global architectural firm, where she is responsible for spearheading and implementing research projects globally. Upali has extensive experience leading research projects in design practice with a focus on the impact of design on human health and perception. She also teaches as an Associate Professor of Practice at Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning and serves as the Executive Director for the nonprofit Center for Advanced Design Research and Education. Her doctoral work on “Sensthetics” has been published as a book available on She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and mainstream media and won awards for her research from the European Health Design, Interior Design Journal and EDRA CORE. In 2015, Dr Nanda was recognized as one of the top 10 most influential people in Healthcare Design by the Healthcare Design Magazine. Most recently, she was honoured by Architectural Record with the 2018 Women in Architecture Innovator Award.
