Why does Human-Centered design need a balance between subjectivity and objectivity in research?
How can we design spaces that aware and responsive to the cognitive and emotional needs of the users?
What can the architecture for the dynamic lifestyle of the millennials really be like?
The workshop will concentrate on understanding human-centred parametric thinking, concepts of urban wellbeing, computational design, and data science in contemporary architecture and design practices. This 2-days’ program will introduce the participants to novel methodologies, tools, and techniques to use empirical data from academic research and computational design to model qualitatively aspects of aesthetic experience that is geared towards user-wellbeing. The participants will be engaged and guided through interactive Design Thinking driven activities that will give them opportunities to apply all that they have learned during the lecture-demonstrations, collective brainstorming and group discussions.
This workshop will also look into ways to incorporate such processes, technology, and intentions into everyday design practices by facilitating a dialogue amongst the participants; taking steps towards bringing design practice closer to research and academia. The workshop participants will also have free-access to the panel discussions (Millennials @Home, @Campus, @Work, @Public Places, and @Opportunities and Challenges across the three days) which will be relevant to the workshop content as preparatory material.
