Monika Valase

An architect and Habitat Designer, Monika Valase focuses on shaping inclusive, people-centered urban environments that strengthen the relationship between communities and the spaces they inhabit. She works with both government and private clients on neighbourhood-scale projects that integrate public realm design, sustainable mobility, and participatory planning approaches. Her professional engagement with public initiatives in Bengaluru has deepened her interest in citizen agency and the long-term sustainability of urban systems. A Gold Medallist in her Master’s degree in Architecture, Monika’s nationally award-winning thesis, Water Secure Cities, reflects her commitment to resilience, climate responsiveness, and integrated urban thinking.
Her writings have been published in various national journals and conference proceedings, where she contributes to discussions on democratic urbanism, participatory processes, and the evolving relationship between people and place.
