To what extent can the design and management of cities shape the lives of their inhabitants?  This is the question that we intend to answer through our first Conscious Monterrey Festival. With the participation of our guests, Monterrey will share efforts already made, as well as ideas in urban matters. From the conservation and identity of the built heritage, to new policies and visions for the city of the future that include citizen participation, the use of technology and art with a social perspective.

Come join the live talks and share with us. It is essential to understand the joint role of community participation and the synergy between researchers, academics, authorities, designers and artists, to create a city that saves and expands opportunities for equitable and democratic development in a broad sense.

SESSION 1 Wednesday, October 21 – 5:00 p.m. to 6:15 p.m.  CDT – Heritage with Elisa Sanchez, Social Architecture with Roberto Núñez and Citizen Participation and Authorities with Indira Kempis.

WORKSHOP Thursday, October 22 – 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. CDT – From the Classrooms. Student presentations on the interaction between the city and the human being. The axes that make up a Conscious City converge in practice, and are also being generated from the universities. Three projects with a social, human approach reflect solutions to local problems. The presentations are given by architecture students from the Tec de Monterrey, the Autonomous University of Nuevo León and the University of Monterrey. They receive feedback from an invited expert and a dialogue is opened with the attendees.

SESSION 2 Thursday October 22 16:00 to 17:15 hrs CDT – Art in Public Space with Armando Alanís, Use of technology and data analysis for More Human Cities with Miguel Treviño de Hoyos and Conscious Cities, Holographic Societies with Gabriel Todd.
